‘나쁜 남자’ 김남길, “군 입대 전 마지막 작품”
-<선덕여왕>의 비담으로 단숨에 대중의 마음을 사로잡았다. 때문에 다음 행보에 쏠리는 눈이 많았는데 특별히 <나쁜 남자>의 건욱을 선택한 이유가 뭔가. <선덕여왕>은 물론 영화 <폭풍전야>에 이어 이번 작품까지, 연이어 거칠고 강한 남자를 연기한다.
특별히 의도한 건 아닌데 자꾸 아픔이 있는 캐릭터에 눈이 간다. 거칠고 강한 남자의 이미지가 자칫 겹쳐질 수 있다는 우려도 물론 있었다. 하지만 외형적인 모습만이 아니라 각 캐릭터마다 깊이의 다름을 보여줄 수 있다고 생각했다. <나쁜 남자>의 건욱 역시 이전의 캐릭터들과는 다른 아픔이 있고, 그로 인해 풍기는 이미지도 다를 것이다.
-이형민 프로듀서는 원색적이고 강렬한, 제목 그대로 나쁜 남자를 보여주겠다는 의지가 대단하더라. 당신이 생각하는 건욱은 기존의 나쁜 남자 캐릭터들과 어떤 차이가 있나?
뭔가 특별히 다르다기보다는 내가 표현하는 나쁜 남자의 아픔과 상처들을 내 스타일대로 표현해 보고 싶다. 연기하다 보면 내 스타일의 건욱이 차곡차곡 쌓이겠지.
-한가인 김재욱 등 또래 배우들과의 호흡은 어떤가? 특히 김재욱과는 후반으로 갈수록 팽팽하게 경쟁하는 관계라고 들었다. 그래서인지 일본 촬영 현장에서도 두 사람 사이에 긴장감이 느껴지더라.
그랬나? 일부러 긴장감을 조성한 건 아닌데. 모두 젊고, 욕심도 많고, 정말 좋은 친구들이라 금방 친해졌다. 서로 많이 배우고 있다. 첫 촬영을 일본에서 로케이션으로 시작해서 더 호흡이 잘 맞는 것 같다.
-일본 게로온천에서 촬영할 때 팬들이 몰려오는 등 인기가 대단했다던데. 이형민 프로듀서의 작품들이 일본에서 좋은 반응을 얻어왔던 걸 보면 차세대 한류 스타로 자리매김할 수 있다는 생각도 들지 않나?
인기가 대단하다고? 글쎄, 그런 건 잘 모르겠다. 내가 원래 좀 무던한 스타일이다. 우선은 한국에서 잘하고 싶은 마음이다.(웃음)
-2009년은 김남길에게 잊을 수 없는 해였을 것이다. 그렇다면 서른이 된 올해는 어떨까. 특별히 이루고 싶은 목표가 있나?
내 주변 환경이 많이 달라지고 바뀌었지만 사실 나 자신은 크게 달라진 것 같지 않다. 올 한 해도 늘 해왔던 것처럼 나 자신에 대해 고민하고, 배우로서 연기에 대해 고민할 거다. 어떠한 환경에서도 흔들리지 않는, 나 자신과 싸워 이길 수 있는 그런 사람이 되고 싶다.
-드라마를 볼 시청자들에게 김남길의 건욱을 기대해야 할 이유에 대해 설명해 달라.
건욱은 자신의 매력을 120퍼센트 활용하는 남자다. 때문에 내 안에 있는 건욱의 매력을 제대로 보여줘야 한다는 부담이 있다. 그리고 아마도 군에 입대하기 전 마지막 작품인 만큼 시청자 분들에게 기억에 남을 만한 작품이 되도록 노력하겠다. 기대해 달라.

It’s impressive that Director Lee Hyeongmin wants to show, just like the title of the drama, a raw and intense bad guy.
According to your ideas about Geonwook, how is he different from the usual bad guy character?
Q: 令人印象深刻的是導演Lee Hyeongmin想要呈現出和劇名一樣原始激烈的壞男人
但根據你對金南佶的想法 要如何表現他不同於以往的壞男人角色?
Rather than saying that a certain aspect is different, I want to express a bad guy’s pain and damage in my style. I would think that as I continue to act, Geonwook, in my style, will naturally come together.
金: 比起說某些特別方面的不同 我想要表達有我個人特色的壞男人痛苦和危險 我想要把我的風格和演技自然的融合在一起
What’s it like acting with actors, such as Han Gain and Kim Jaewook, whom are around your age? I heard that, in particular with Kim Jaewook, you and him will have tense relations as rivals later on. Maybe that’s why on set, while filming in Japan, I felt a sense of tension between the two of you.
Q:和韓佳人和金在旭這些和你差不多年紀的演員對戲的感覺是什麼? 我聽說特別是你和金在旭 你們之間在之後會有作為競爭對手的緊張關係 也許在日本拍攝現場 我覺得你們倆之間的關係很緊張
Really? It wasn’t on purpose to create a sense of tension. Everyone is young, and has great ambitions. Since they are really good people, we got to know each other pretty quickly. We are learning a lot from each other. I think, because our first filming location started in Japan, we have a better rapport.
金: 真的嗎 這不是故意創造緊張的感覺 每個人都很年輕必且都有很強烈的企圖心 因為他們都是非常棒的人 所以我們必須很快的了解其他人 我們都在從對方身上學習 我認為因為我們第一次的攝影場景在日本 所以我們有了更好的溝通
You have huge popularity, seeing the gathering of fans to the Japan locale during filming. Given that Director (Producer) Lee Hyeongmin’s works have received good responses in Japan, hasn’t it occurred to you that you may the take the spot as the next generation Korean Wave star?
Q:你非常的受歡迎 你有很多粉絲聚集在日本拍攝現場 鑑於導演LEE HYEONGMIN的作品在日本收到很多好的反應 你有想過你會是下一代韓流明星嗎
My popularity is huge? Well, I’m not too sure about that. I’m pretty much an easygoing guy. I want to do well in Korea first. (Laughs).
金:我很受歡迎? 恩 我並不確定這點 我是一個很好相處的人 我想先在韓國站穩腳步 (笑)
It would seem that 2009 was an unforgettable year for Kim Namgil. Then how would it be for you this year when you just turned thirty. Is there a particular goal that you want to achieve?
Q:在2009年 對金南佶來說是很難忘的一年 今年你也將邁入30歲 你有什麼特別想達到的目標嗎
Honestly, even though the environment around me has considerably changed and become different, I don’t think I, myself, have changed a lot. This year, as I have always done, I will continue to worry about myself. As an actor, I will continue to be concerned about acting. Regardless of the environment, I want to become a person who will not be shaken, who will win in a battle against myself.
金: 誠實來說 雖然現在我週遭環境有很大的改變 但我不覺得我自己本身有任何改變 這一年 我一直這樣做 我會繼續擔心我自己 作為一個演員 我會繼續專注逾演技 不管環境怎樣 我想要變成一個不容易動搖的人 我想戰勝我自己

Q: 電視觀眾要應該怎樣期待金南佶
Geonwook is a man who utilizes 120% of his charms. Because of that I feel pressure about having to properly show Geonwook’s charm that is within me. And, as much as it is my last work before I enlist in the military, I am going to make the effort to make this drama worthy of remembering. Look forward to it
